Independence Day 2015

This year we spent the Fourth of July with both sides of the family!
The morning of, we woke up early and headed up the canyon to have breakfast with the Oscarsons, which is something we did last year too! I enjoyed this year much more since last year I was big and pregnant and all I wanted to do was lie down. This year, after eating, a bunch of us went on a short walk on a bike path that led to some campsites.
The American Fork canyon is so beautiful. If you've never been and you're able to visit, do! There's lots of picnic/campfire sites with a nice stream that goes through most of them.

After the canyon we went home, showered and got ready for the day then met up with Rachel and her kids, plus Maisy, at Old Navy to snag some amazing deals! (All swimsuits were 60% off!!)
After shopping, we all met Ryan at Costa Vida for lunch, did some grocery shopping then hung out at the Bailey's til it was time for the barbecue at the Orr's, where my family would be too!

After eating and relaxing, it was time for fireworks! At this point, no one had bought fireworks, and the only ones we had were Jacob's. He got a box of fireworks from Jeff Whittaker a year or two ago and Jacob's been waiting to be able to use them! BUT, there were some aerials, and aerials are restricted in Cedar Hills, so we went down to the Oscarsons where, in Highland, they're legal.
So our huge group all drove down to the Oscarsons and set up our camp chairs and in the street and waited for it to get dark.

Gemma had a rough evening, towards the end. The fireworks didn't bother her at all, but she was exhausted and needed to go to bed.

Last minute (or hour) Ryan bought these fireworks from a stand in Pleasant Grove! They were so good! They were legit big aerials!

On our way home that night Tyler was telling me about how in Illinois fireworks are illegal, so growing up, he never had a chance to have fun lighting them up.
I'm so glad Tyler gets along with my family! He doesn't have any brothers or cousins around his age, and my family has more than enough men his age that he gets to do fun things with like...
throwing firecrackers at each other.

It was funny watching some of the guys light the fireworks (and throw them at each other). Except when they threw them too close to other people, then it wasn't so funny. Or when Jack accidentally hit Chloe in the back with a roman candle. Well...it wasn't funny at first. It was scary. I totally thought she was going to catch on fire, but she was fine. Not even a mark on her shirt. So after we realized she was fine, it was kinda funny.

Grateful for this country we live in!
Happy Independence Day!
