Christmas at the Oscarsons 2012

Christmas Eve Part 2: The Oscarsons

Christmas Eve Part 1: Bailey's

The entire day of Christmas Eve was awesome! The first part of the evening, we spent with the Baileys. Our original plan was just to stop by for a short visit that day, and do presents with them on the evening of Christmas day, but we decided on a whim to do presents with them, as well as St. Lucia day, and the nativity story.

Proof that I have the best husband EVER.
Months before Christmas I found out that Nintendo was coming out with the new Wii system around Thanksgiving. I saw a couple videos about the new Mario game- and I was in love. (For anyone that doesn't know me, I LOVE any Mario game, especially the one for the Wii, so when I found out there was a new one coming out, I was pretty excited.)
Tyler knew how bad I wanted the system and game, but I told him that it wasn't a big deal, and we need to spend that money on stuff we actually need. We were already planning on getting Tyler a sound system for Christmas that was a mere $100, and that was the other reason I didn't want to spend the money on the Wii.
SO. It turned out, Tyler secretly went into work early multiple times to get overtime, as well as asked Rachel if she wanted to go in on the gift with him so that he could afford to get the the Wii and game. He also gave up getting that sound system.
I almost cried when I opened the gift. In all seriousness, it was the best gift I have ever received, and it wasn't even that it was a Wii. It was finding out everything that he had done to be able to get me that gift.
Grateful to have such a wonderful husband who will do things like this for me without expecting anything in return. I am one lucky girl!!
...and grateful to have such a wonderful friend in Rachel! Thank you for being apart of that gift! It means so much to me that you would put that much into a Christmas gift for me!!

One day I hope to do something just as awesome for these two as they have for me!

Lights on Temple Square & Ice Skating

Every year during Christmas time, it is a MUST to visit Temple Square and see the lights. I love visiting Temple Square anyways, but it's always a treat to see it all decked out for Christmas! As long as I'm dressed warm and with good company, I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing the lights.
This year, Abby, Tyler and I went up with the Bailey family and Jacob! Abby had never seen the lights on Temple Square, so this year it was especially important we make the time to go!
Jacob actually rode up to SLC with Abby, Tyler and I so we could do quick shopping at H&M before meeting the Bailey's. After browsing around we ate some pizza in the foodcourt and finally met up with the Bailey's in the North Visitor's Center.
Outside the center was the Nativity! Rachel and I took Ella and Jack up to the front for a good view while everybody else hung out off to the side.

After walking around for a bit, we decided it would be lots of fun to go ice-skating! Tyler and I haven't been since we were dating so I really wanted to go! (It had been 3 years!)
Buuuuut, it turned out, Tyler didn't want to go. He thought Ryan wasn't going to go (actually Ryan thought this too, until Rachel informed him otherwise), plus Tyler's feet were already hurting from walking around so much (he's not used to that, he has a desk job).
So I didn't get to skate with my sweetheart, but it was okay! He got to be our photographer for the night!

Ella did amazing! There were times she didn't want to hold anyone's hand cause she wanted to skate off as fast as she could!

All during ice-skating, Tyler had taken A LOT of pictures- of everybody! And what I usually do is go through all the pictures, editing and posting only the best ones...but as for Jacob...well, it turned out he had a lot of good pictures! He was funny on the ice! He was doing lots of little tricks and poses for the camera so I just had to post them! Thanks for the entertainment, Jakey!

Wish I hadn't smiled mid-kiss! Oh well...

Jack was a trooper! No matter how many times he fell down, he always wanted to get up and keep trying!

Posing for the camera!

And what would ice-skating be without a few spills?....

Ice-skating was so much fun!!! And honestly, I don't think it would've been near as fun without the Bailey kids! It was a blast going around with them- Ella was doing good right off the bat! She's been ice-skating before, so I think it came back to her quickly. Jack, on the other hand, (from what I think Rachel said) had only been skating once, but he was really little, so this was pretty much a brand new experience for him! But he did awesome! Of course it took a bit of time getting him to understand how to skate and keep his feet under him and stay balanced, but once he got it, he went nuts! He would go so fast!! So in almost exactly an hour, Jack went from wiping out every 2 seconds even while holding hands with someone to skating on his own- and fast!...Well, it was more like he was running on ice, but hey, he's five. What do you expect? :)
Thank you so much for inviting us, Baileys!! We all had so much fun!!

After skating, the Bailey's went home, but Tyler, Abby, Jacob and I went to Denny's where we ate from The Hobbit menu and Tyler attempted to explain the story of the Lord of the Rings to Abby. It was a good time!
This was after we had eaten and were waiting to pay the bill, Abbebee was tired!
