Last weekend, Tyler and I got to go up to my Great-Aunt Marilyn's house in Perry to spend the weekend with my two older siblings and a good friend of ours. Tyler's birthday was that Sunday and I wanted to do something fun for it so we planned a weekend of partying! It was so much fun! It's always a treat to go up there; Aunt Marilyn is a delight to be around, and of course it's always a good time when hanging out with Alissa and Blake, especially since we're all married now! [And luckily to fun people!]
Our original plan for the weekend was to go to Lagoon for Frightmares, but that all changed when our faithful old Ford Taurus starting having crazy transmission problems, causing us to have to get a new car. That being said, we didn't exactly want to spend a fortune for one evening at a theme park, so we came up with something cheaper!
Friday night after 10:30pm [Which was when Tyler and I got off work] we picked up our good friend Corey, and set off for the 1.5 hour drive to Perry. We ended up getting there much later than we had planned, but that didn't stop us all from having fun. We all stayed up till 4am talking, laughing and catching up.
Saturday morning and afternoon was spent lounging around our Aunt's very comfortable and roomy house, where there was plenty to do for fun! [Pool table, foosball, airhockey, ping-pong, many board games and card games. WiFi. Need I say more?]
Evening came and it was time for us to head up to Wellsville in Cache Valley for the activity planned! Corn maze and haunted trail! [About 4x cheaper than Lagoon, and in my opinion, just as fun!]
First we went for a walk on their Haunted River Trail. It was quite entertaining, and I think they did a good job on it. Alissa and Seth walked ahead the whole time, notifying us, by scream, when something scary was about to hit us. After being followed by creepy disfigured people, chased by a Jeep and threatened with a chainsaw, we moved on to the corn maze. We began the walk by telling scary, but true, stories of things that happened to either us or people we knew. Soon after starting the maze, Tyler decided to be a cheater and look up a map of the maze that was nothing but a sky view photo of the farm on google maps.
Tyler's crafty like that.
Eventually we made him put it away and tried to figure it all out the old fashioned way! Or perhaps....the correct way! We made it out of the maze with time to spare before the farm closed, so we played on the huge pyramid/fort of hay bales! It was way fun! But kinda gross...and pretty dangerous in my opinion...but a good time, nonetheless. By 11pm, we were stinky, muddy and tired so headed back to Aunt Marilyn's and watched a semi-scary movie that put the majority of us to sleep 10 min into it. [We were more sleepy, than bored!]
In the morning we attended church, then played games till it was time for us to leave.
After Ty and I dropped Corey off, we went over to Tyler's family's house for his birthday dinner, presents and cake!
All in all, it was a good weekend. I got to spend time with family and friends, and I got to do something special for my sweet hubby. I'm so blessed to be married to such a wonderful, kind, and loving man, and I thank my Father in Heaven for that every day.
Happy Birthday, Babe! I love you!!
Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Sadly, I didn't take any more than these :(
